This video was made before an official release of the Mini Layouts module. Since then, this moduel has a full release and is being used on many production sites. Yet, there are still some rough edges in the user interface for this module, but for the functionality it is worth it.
This module allows you to create blocks that use layouts of their own. I particularly like this module as an option for creating a header or footer that can be placed on many different layouts, but edited in one location.
